Is it the beginning of a new era in MotoGP? Is the Spanish domination going to end? Valentino Rossi’s students start to scare in Spain.

On this topic we propose an interesting reflection by TR Media Motogp thanking the journalist Lluís Zúñiga for having authorized us to resume and translate his post.

From TR Media Motogp

“I was always surprised how something so clear, exaggerated, disproportionate, or how you want to call it once I read this post, has had so few complaints during these last decades. But well, you should not even be surprised a lot. Everything is based on promoting motorcycles and riders, and avoiding the criticism and transparency of many of the things that happen […]

The domination of Spain in the motorcycle world has had many protagonists, people and companies, who have worked with a clear objective. Now, with the arrival of the Vr46 Academy, the domain begins to be in real danger.

I think everyone has more or less clear how much Dorna has been able to “dominate and rule”. If you want to arrive in Motogp you have to go through the CEV, for the Spanish promotional categories. At the limit then you can always reposition the WSBK, acquired by DORNA a few years ago. Such a thing, in another type of market, would not be possible, it is a monopoly. Is not it curious that all the brands have had in their official teams of Spanish pilots?

But we must also be objectives. That DORNA does everything to his measure, which has a hard face and 4 GP in his house, does not detract from riders like Marquez or Vinales. Two genes. And they, these two examples, are the “product” of someone you know a lot: Guim Roda.

Guim Roda is the real propeller of the “promovelocidad” in Catalunya. He created the “Motociclismo Quarry” where children, from 3 years upwards, could try to ride motorcycles on the kart tracks. Among the young people who have moved from this school, the Espargaro brothers, Marc Marquez, Tito Rabat, Maverick Vinales, Alex Rins and also Joan Lascorz who without that incident could have become a great champion.

Now in Italy there is the Vr46 Academy and it is already beginning to be scary. […] Pecco Bagnaia and Franco Morbidelli promise, and a lot. In 2019 Valentino’s students will try to stop Marquez, candidate for the world title, and Vinales. Perhaps the two pilots of the Vr46 Academy is Bagnaia the one with the most talent. At the moment Spain, as usual, is still ahead with three Spanish riders on official bikes but no doubt a “new era” is starting. In the premier class Spanish domination is increasingly at risk and the protagonist is, directly or indirectly, Valentino Rossi, the Italian Guim Roda “.
